South Shore has picked up two food formats for BBC2, fronted by Andi Oliver and the Hairy Bikers respectively.

Both eight-part series, announced at today’s Wales Screen Summit, are being produced out of the indie’s Cardiff base.

Andi Oliver’s Big Bash (w/t) will see the renowned chef and restauranteur travel across the UK to bring people together through food and celebrate their communities in each hour long episode.

As well as devising unique themed dishes and meeting local chefs, the series will also dig into local culture to discover artists and performers to help bring the event to life.

Meanwhile, further cementing South Shore’s relationship with the duo, biker chefs David and Si will travel along the west coast of the UK in The Hairy Bikers Go West, which will celebrate the food producers, cuisine and vista of Britain’s west shores in an eight-part series.

The pair will travel from Scotland all the way to Devon along the west coast to explore the changing areas through restaurants, recipes, producers and inventive new food entrepreneurs. The duo had previously fronted The Hairy Bikers Go North and Hairy Bikers Go Local with South Shore.

Both series have been commissioned by the BBC’s head of commissioning, factual entertainment and events Catherine Catton.

“These two new shows showcase the food, passion and creativity of people all across the UK and I’m very excited to be bringing them to BBC viewers,” Catton said.

The executive producers for both series are Andrew Mackenzie and Melanie Leach, with James Hedge also acting as exec producer for Andi Oliver’s Big Bash.

The commissioning editor for Andi Oliver’s Big Bash is Patrick McMahon, while for The Hair Bikers Go West it is Jasmyn McGuile, with Francois Gandolfi as series editor.
